Woolsey #32124-7502 *SOLD 4/23/24*

$65.00

Very large. Maybe huge. It makes a Paul Perri look as though it’s a normal size. Further, this pipe has a lot of straight grain and no fills that I can see, which is impressive for this much briar. The condition is very good, with no teeth marks on the ebonite stem and just a little bit of carbon on the plateau-topped rim. The draw is open, but if you need it to pass the cleaner test, it doesn’t. I always take my stem out to clean inside the mortise anyhow, but each smoker is different. According to Paddy Larrigan on Pipedia, Woolsey (first name forgotten) likely earned his livelihood as a fireman in L.A. or the L.A. area and made pipes in his spare time (firemen often have plenty of that…when they’re not putting their lives in harm’s way. Bless them) and then took them to the stores he visited on vacation trips. According to Paddy, he “was very much an artistic and technologically competent craftsman.” This pipe confirms that.
8.25” long, bowl 2.55” tall. Weight: 4 5/8 oz., 132 grams.
