JPS (Joel Shapiro Pipes) #10823-3282 *SOLD*

$65.00

I had to look this one up in Pipedia; it appears that Mr. Shapiro is no longer making pipes as his web site is up for sale. That’s too bad because from the example we have here, he was a good pipe maker and certainly would have gotten better as he became more experienced. This is a Grp. 5 with lots of straight and flame grain all around the bowl, with Bird’s Eye grain filling the chamber rim that is over 1/2” thick. The condition of the pipe is very good, with just a smidgen of wear on the inner rim that keeps the pipe from being classified as near-new. The draw is wide-open and the brindle stem is vulcanite. Besides the JSP stamping, there are the numbers 0625. I’m going to take a stab in the dark and guess that this might have been the 25th pipe he made in 2006. Used.
5.95” long, bowl 1.7” tall. Weight: 1 3/8 oz., 39 grams.
