I’ve heard of floating drills that can create a pipe like this, but I’ve never seen one and I’m not sure they exist, of if they do, how many briar blocks you have to burn through to get one that actually floats well enough to drill a proper hole into the chamber. I’ve also seen sandblasts that have claimed (well, actually, it was the pipe maker that made the claim, not the pipe itself) this kind of spectacular drill work…but I’ve wondered if maybe it wasn’t a spliced shank that did the deed. Anyhow, this one is a lightly-stained smooth piece, so no splice exists. The draw is open. It’s a Grp. 6 size and the stem appears to be bone, with a vulcanite tip spliced on so that the mouth feel is that of a normal pipe. Plenty of Bird’s Eye graces one side of the bowl…the other has a cross-grain pattern. It is, as you can see, unsmoked.
7.5” long, bowl 2.2” tall. Weight: 2 oz., 56 grams.
