Comoy's Vintage #112123-5836 *SOLD*

$45.00

Here, I think, we have a good example of an oxymoron, which is basically a literary term, like “military intelligence,” which is to say, contradictory terms. This version is not literary, but rather quite concrete and readily tangible. The makers of this pipe are trading, or trying to trade, on Comoy’s’ long, venerable history by using a grade name, Vintage, to call on that history. But what they’ve done is provide us with a Comoy’s with an acrylic rather than a vulcanite stem, and a stem logo “C” that is not the old 3 piece “C” of many decades’ use, but instead a single piece “C.” Having said all of that, I don’t think this is a bad pipe. I like the shape, the condition is just shy of excellent (there are a couple of dings on the rim, having nothing to do with wear) and although the grain pattern isn’t anything to write in about, I don’t see any fills. I did see a sand pit, but that’s not worth a demerit. Remember, though, my eyes are not young, sharp eyes. So no promise on the fill score. One can (one did) get a cleaner to pass it’s sole test by crimping the tip.
5” long, bowl 1.6” tall. Weight: 2 3/8 oz., 67 grams.
