This Grp. 4 (a slim bowl, but fairly tall) does not have the Lane “L” that I can see, but it is incontrovertibly a pipe from that era and likely purchased in Europe. The “CP” logo, although buffed down, is the old style and the blast gives it away as a real Charatan factory pipe. The condition is very good. Yes, there’s carbon residue on the rim, but no wear and no teeth marks on the vulcanite stem. There is a little dark spot on the bowl; concerned that it might indicate heated briar, I smoked the pipe. Besides smoking well, it did not get hot. It’s fine. The draw is wide-open. Used.
