Other than what you can see, I only have to describe the gold band, which may, or may not, be original. There is no crack in the shank…I looked carefully with a lens. But the top of the shank is a little thin…not all that thin, but it might have been thin enough to warrant Baldo taking preventative measures by putting on that band. You can see the little wear on the top of the rim. The draw is open. The chamber is in excellent condition, as is the original stem. The rim is all impressive Bird’s Eye and you can see that the grain is thick all around the bowl. This is a large-bowled pipe…a Grp. 7, so despite thick walls (over 1/2” thick) there is plenty of chamber capacity. Used.
