Ashton LX Old Church #81723-5172 *SOLD 1/30/24*

$245.00

I’ve never stopped to consider how the Old Church designation was arrived at. Well, I’ll be spending time with David Field very soon and he can tell me. This one has no date that I can see after the “England,” and I think it’s not really large enough to be stamped LX, although I could be wrong there. It seems like a fairly large Grp. 5 to me and I’m not sure what LX is supposed to match up to. Are you? Once again, I have David as a resource. The condition here is very good, with just a little carbon residue on the inner rim, but no wear; all is still good and crisp. The draw is open and the band is sterling, with both an “Ashton” in script inscribed on it and also an “AP” which might mean Ashton Pipes…or not. I don’t know. Used.
6” long, bowl 2” tall. Weight: 1.75 oz., 49 grams.
