I wish Bekler had inscribed the name of the depicted individual so I wouldn’t have to make wild guesses. But he didn’t and I do, so here goes…Shakespeare? He’s got that cute little beard that Mel Brooks so admires, and that big forehead. Happily, he did inscribe his name on the shank, so we know it’s a Bekler, although the quality of the carving might have given that away. It’s large, A grp. 6 size, or even larger, and it’s new. The pipe comes in its own form-fitted case.
