From 1346-1353 The Black Death ripped its way through Central Asia, North Africa and Europe, reducing the pop. by an estimated 30-60% in Europe. A willful return to universal ignorance (The Dark Ages) & the superstitious persecution of innocent minorities (210 Jewish communities, large & small were destroyed) exacerbated the problem and increased the death toll. Doctors, thinking that the disease was air-borne, were said to wear a long, beak-like mask. It's a scary look, but it is questionable if these masks were actually ever worn. New.
