Barling's Guinea Grain #21724-6967 *SOLD 21724-6967*

$125.00

This pipe, just by the look of it, is pretty old. That contention is supported by the “Reg.” stamping after the Guinea Grain designation. Alas, there is no registration number actually on the pipe, nor is there a shape and size number. The “Barling’s” is in script, but that is the case with Guinea Grains plus it does say “Barling’s” and not just Barling. So it’s a pretty old pipe and well within the family owned/run time frame. Also, the condition is very good. The rim is sharp, the stem is mark-free and the chamber is without cracks. The pipe is quite small…perhaps as small as a Grp. 2 size. Maybe it’s closer to a Grp. 3. The nomenclature is buffed down considerably. It’s all there, even the crossed Barling name on the stem, but hard to read…the stem logo being hardest of all. But if these old eyes can do it, so can yours. The button end of a stem can often give a clue as to the age of a pipe. If I read this one correctly, the pipe isn’t that old, but the slit is quite wide, so maybe the 50s?
6” long, bowl 1.2” tall. Weight: 1 oz., 27 grams.
