Weber Collector #8126-14162

$45.00

Carl Weber, as many of you know, and some don’t, not only was an early artisan in the U.S. pipe making world, but also wrote a very influential book for the pipe world, “Weber’s Guide to Pipes and Pipe Smoking.” I’m pretty sure there were many editions published over the decades. The copy I have in hand was published in 1965 by Bantam Books. I’ve seen, and owned (probably still do, somewhere) older versions of this book, also in paperback. The 15 page glossary at the back of the book is easily worth the price. I just saw the word “Sokia” and found out it is an aromatic Turkish varietal grown in the Smyrna region. Yet there is little, if any, info on Weber himself in the book. I guess he was not much of a self-promoter.
‍ ‍. But here we have a handsome Weber Churchwarden that I think, based on the stem’s button (quite roundish) is pretty old. That’s OK because the pipe is in excellent condition. It also shows branch wood and ring grain.
11.75” long, bowl 1.85” tall. Weight: 1 3/8 oz., 38 grams.
