Sydney Ram #11425-12903

$65.00

Here’s an anomaly. Ram had a shop in Chicago, in the 30s until he closed it in ‘41 or ‘42, when he moved to Calif., to continue making pipes. (According to Pipedia.). He may have been one of the earliest U.S. craft pipe makers. Also, according to Pipedia, his briar came from either Corsica or Algeria, but were stamped simply Sydney P. Ram. But this piece is also stamped “France.” Well, Corsica is owned by France, but I don’t think that’s what the stamp means. I don’t know what it means. If you know, tell Pipedia. This pipe is in very good condition, with just a little wear on the inner rim of the chamber. The nomenclature is quite clear and the stem is mark-free. There are some little dings on the bowl. The draw is open and the pipe passes the cleaner test (maybe with a twist…but no crimping the end needed).
5” long, bowl 1.65” tall. Weight: 2.25 oz., 64 grams
