This pipe’s refined shape illustrates why Giancarlo Guidi was so highly regarded in Italy as a specially gifted and creative pipe maker. Of course, his Van Gogh series is ample proof of that. It’s the only commemorative series that is actually based on some reality (as opposed to the Sherlock series, which has pipes like the Mrs. Hudson or Inspector Lestrade, neither of whom smoked pipes). The condition is excellent. Due to the shape, it’s hard to determine the precise Grp. size, but I’d say it’s closer to a Grp. 6 than to a Grp. 5.
