I’ll be repeating myself often as I slowly post the pipes I bought from David Field, the importer/distributor of Radice, Becker, Il Ceppo and others, some of them in partnership with me. I just never had the brains or foresight to establish a collection by picking first; all I did was acquire a scant few to smoke. Those will not be posted (until I drop dead. Stand by, I guess). If you look carefully at the tight, hard straight grain and ring grain on this bowl, you won’t have any difficulty understanding why David kept it for himself. That briar shank, worked to look marvelously like bamboo is a bonus, but it’s the grain on the blast that makes this so special. There is very light teeth marks on the acrylic stem and likewise, some carbon on the rim, so I can’t call the condition ‘excellent,’ but in my eyes it it.Grp. 6 size.
