Becker #10626-14624

$245.00

Do you call this a Vest Pocket pipe or an Opera pipe? I think either is correct. The difference here (and I may have seen this elsewhere, too, but I can’t exactly recall) is the silver work that enables the stem to be removed and attached below the bowl. You’ll see in the photos what I’m talking about. The pipe is in excellent condition. One consideration is that the shape of the narrow bowl/chamber is that you are limited in terms of the size of the tamper you can use. In testing it with a typical Czech tool, the tamper only goes down 2/3 deep. Other tamper heads don’t go down that far. Hey, make your own custom tamper…maybe out of a nail with a large hear. And typing this reminds me of something only a few of you will remember. Pipe Dan, a shop in Copenhagen that had pipes made for them (I think a number of the great Danish pipe makers got their start there) typically beautiful, but tall and narrow bowls, to the point that the pipes came with their own, custom tampers. I haven’t seen one in decades.
4.55” long (with stem in), bowl 1.55” tall. Weight: 1 oz., 28 grams.
