The pipe by the much beloved Rolando is in excellent condition, with a wide-open draw and vulcanite stem. Rolando uses his design expertise to add some very attractive wood trim. I can’t quite place the wood’s name. It may come back to me. It’s probably technically a Grp. 6 (I could measure if you need to know) but maybe looks more like a large 5, and especially as the chamber isn’t large as it is surrounded by lots of briar. The blast is a pretty magnificent tight ring grain. Therein, perhaps, lies the unremitting charm of this pipe. Roland’s designs were like no others and he was too unique to copy. Did I say the condition was excellent?
