Panels are hard to make in the first place…there is always the chance that just an extra ½ second on the disc sander will create uneven walls. I’ve seen a panel made, and was stunned at the mind-muscle memory that created even sides all around. (For your info, it was Phil Vigen, a top notch Danish artisan who was doing the pipe making). Knowing the fickleness of briar grain, it’s rare, in my memory, to see both a Panel and straight grain put together. Too much can go wrong. But not here, and not with Karlo Joura. The pipe is new, so the condition is “new.” It’s fairly large…Grp. 6 anyhow, but with a broad beam, so maybe a 7. (But the chamber is not that large as the walls are quite thick as the panels taper out and down. Looks like an ebonite stem.
