Parker Briar Bark with Patent Number #51326-14057

$200.00

Some interesting stuff going on here. The patent number, 116989/17 is given in John Loring guide to Dunhills as having been issued in 1918. Perhaps that applies only to Dunhills, as this pipe is in excellent condition, but is certainly not that old. However, the “18” stamped after “England” would, according to Loring, place this pipe as having been made in 1941. That squares with the look of the pipe, and mostly, the stem’s button, it makes this a somewhat rare war-time product. That’s pretty old, too. Even older than me (by a year…but I wasn’t produced in a country and city that was under siege). Although long, the bowl is small, Grp. 3 size. The “P” in the patent number looks as though it never quite was stamped onto the shank, and the numbers are in small, but certainly legible, size. They are not buffed out or buffed down, just small.
6.75” long, bowl 1.5” tal. . Weight: .75 oz., 23 grams.
