The important part of the pipe is in excellent condition. The bowl, rim and chamber are all really crisp and clean. The stem is also in very good condition, but the Barling logo has apparently been polished off. Also, the nomenclature, while all legible and intact, has been buffed down. The shape number is 1852 and the Barling’s is in bold, block letters. There is no question about this being an original family era piece. It is also a true Pot, with the diameter of the bowl exceeding the height.
