The Barling’s size is “L” which, in this case, translates to a Grp. 4. The brand name is in block letters and the shape number is 165, so we have no doubt as to the pipe being of the pre-transition era. However, despite the “Barling” logo appearing on the stem, I have a feeling the stem is not original. it doesn’t look like an old Barling stem to me, nor does the stem logo look like a factory stamping. Nonetheless, the guts of an old Barling are all here…the bowl, which is in very good condition, the nomenclature, which is all clear and legible and an interesting, old blast. And if the stem is not original, there’s nothing wrong with it, either.
5.65” long, bowl 1.5” tall. Weight: 1 oz., 29 grams.
