1952 is the first year that Dunhill produced the Tanshell. This piece is in excellent condition as regards the stem and the rim and the chamber. It was, however, cut a little thin on the sides and thus the lower area of the outside of the bowl is darker. There is not even a trace of a burnout and clearly the pipe has been smoked many times with no damage done to the pipe. It just got hotter in that area. If one chose, one could exercise a little caution when reaching the bottom of the bowl. I doubt it’s at all necessary, but an ounce of prevention, etc. The shape is an “O” and the size is a group 4.
